Lagos — The Executive Committee of the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has appealed to the Association of Resident Doctors of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (ARD, LASUTH) to reconsider its threat to embark on a two-day warning strike.
A statement issued in Lagos weekend by the NMA said it was conversant with the tremendous and commendable efforts of the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, at rebuilding the state into a mega city and was also well aware of the lack of infrastructure and poor remuneration that practically kills the morale/self-esteem of the health workforce.
It, however, appealed to all doctors under the Lagos government's employ to sheath their swords and create ample room for the Lagos NMA elders forum to dialogue with the State government on concerns bothering on requirements to achieve a befitting health care services delivery system suitable for Lagos state.
"We are convinced that the calibre of members that constitute the cabinet headed by the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, will not turn their back on the advice from seasoned and experienced senior citizens of the Lagos State NMA as they truly want to improve the health services delivery within the state," it said.
