Luanda — Justino Fernandes, re-elected Saturday in Luanda for a third term as chairman of the Angola Football Federation (FAF), is the fifth top officer of the organ set up on August 9, 1997.
After holding the post from 1999 to 2008, Justino Fernandes won again the election.
The first election in FAF were held in 1991, when Amando Augusto Machado defeated Daniel Simas, with 11 votes against one. Machado's candidacy had been forwarded by the provincial association of Huambo, whereas his opponent came from Luanda.
The organ's first chairman was president Eduardo Santos, who led it from 1979 to 1984.
In the 1984/1990, the federation was led by José António Fernandes (late), brother of the current chairman.
