Angola: Can2010 Transmission Rights Reserved to "Sportfive" Agency

Luanda — The rights of TV transmission of the 27th edition of the African Football Cup of Nations (CAN2010) Angola will host, have been reserved for the "Sportive" Telecommunication Agency.

The information was released by the director for information, publicity and marketing of the CAN Organising Committee (COCAN), Manuel Mariano.

Speaking to Angop, in Luanda, the information officer said that the agency with offices in several parts of the world, has an accord for exclusive transmission with the African Confederation of Football (CAF).

Manuel Mariano added that CAF floated a tender for television stations of some countries, including Angola's Public Television (TPA), for the international transmission of the games through satellite.

He said he hopes TPA gets the right for a satellite live transmission of the games that will take place in four Angolan cities, adding however that local transmission of the competition is guaranteed.

The officer said all is being done for TPA to win the tender for the live satellite transmission of the competition, especially because COCAN is supported by Angolan Government.

The African Football Cup of Nations will start on January 10, 2010 in Luanda, Benguela, Lubango and Cabinda, where communication facilities are being put in place by national and foreign companies.
