Luanda — The draw for the African Cup of Nations in football (CAN/2010), which will take place in Angola, is set for November 2009, a ceremony that will count on the participation world football figures, an official source has announced.
Speaking to ANGOP, the director of information, marketing of the organising committee, Manuel Mariano, gave assurance as to the presence of international figures of sports and culture, without mentioning names.
The names will be announced in the first semester of the coming year, he said, adding that the act is to be co-ordinated by the African Football Confederation (CAF).
"We have been informed by CAF on the holding of the draw. It will be in November 2009. We have been working and I believe that it will be an event at the dimension of our country", he underlined.
The championship that will be held for the first time in Angola will comprise 16 national teams, and will be disputed in the provinces of Luanda, Benguela, Huila and Cabinda.
The stadiums are under construction and will be handed over to the organising committee of the championship in October 2009.
The stadiums will be tested on November 11, 2009, the date of the national independence, with the holding of a national or international tournament.
