South Africa's military team contesting the Camfoot Cup in Uganda this week have been thrown into the unknown with last night's draw pitting them against, Algeria, Cameroon and Gambia.
Like the hosts, Uganda, who will be up against Gabon, Guinea and Kenya, the chances of forecasting the outcome of the games appears remote, except that at this stage Cameroon appears to be favourite for the event.
Uganda's coach Sam Ssimbwa who will name his team comprising of players from Uganda Super League Simba SC and first division giants UPDF admitted to having little knowledge on the opposition.
"Of course we have never watched Guinea or Gabon but for Kenya, we know that Ulinzi Stars are doing well in their league," Ssimbwa told KickOff EastAfrica.com. Both Simba and Ulinzi are third in their respective leagues.
"The least we can do is to put in our best game and always try to win every game. What I am certain of is that every player I select will be ready to give his all on the pitch," he added.
Ssimbwa's side faces Guinea in the tournament opener at Namboole tomorrow with entrance free for the public.
UPDF team must top their group to avoid defending champions Cameroon in the semi-finals with the latter almost certain of topping group B.
The two finalists will qualify for the 2011 Military World Cup in Brazil.
