Kampala — KAMPALA mayor Nasser Ssebaggala has declared his candidature for the president general of the Democratic Party (DP).
Ssebaggala made the declaration on Friday during a meeting at Valley Pub, Nakulabye in Rubaga division.
Ssebaggala said the current DP leadership lacked focus, proper planning and strategies to win elections.
"DP always thinks of winning elections without analysing the situation at the grassroots," he said.
"How do you campaign for the candidate in an area where you have spent ages without paying a visit or tell them to scrutinise voters' registers?" he asked.
He said if he wins, he would promote sharing of power between political parties. DP is expected to elect its leader soon to replace John Ssebaana Kizito.
