Uganda: Rise and Shine Defies Odds to Win UABCA Championship

Kampala — RISE and Shine earned their maiden victory in the Uganda Amateur Boxing Clubs Association (UABCA) national intermediate championships on Sunday.

The Ntinda-based club brushed aside seasoned clubs like Kampala Boxing Club and Kololo High with 13 points at Centenary Park.

Mengo-based COBAP and Ice Mark came joint second with 10 points each. The championship was the third event organised by the renegade clubs opposed to Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation status quo.

UABCA secretary Jimmy Sekinoga said 40 of the 60 boxers in the event qualified for the National Open due on January 10-15.
