Kampala — COACH Sam Simbwa is confident of a good start to the Africa Military Football Championship (CAMFOOT) when his UPDF team takes on the Guinea army side at Namboole at 3pm today.
"I have no worries at all. We have had good preparations and my boys are okay," remarked Simbwa after spying on the towering Guinea army team at their last drills yesterday.
"They have the height but we shall deal with them on the ground," added Simbwa.
The Uganda versus Guinea encounter sets the ball rolling for the two-week Africa military soccer showpiece in Kampala. The championship has drawn eight teams from all zones in the continent. UPDF are in Group A with Guinea, Kenya, and Gabon.
Group B has defending champions Cameroon who open their title defence against Gambia at Nakivubo tomorrow. Others in the group are South Africa and Algeria.
The CAMFOOT tournament will start with an opening ceremony at 11.00am at Mandela Stadium, Namboole.
