Luanda — The director of the Department of Africa and Middle East of the Angolan Foreign Ministry, Nelson Cosme, Tuesday in Luanda considered as excellent the relations between Angola and Cape Verde.
Nelson Cosme said so while addressing the opening of a meeting of experts going until Wednesday, to prepare the 7th session of the Angola/Cape Verde Bilateral Commission, scheduled for Thursday in Luanda.
Heading Angolan delegation of experts, the diplomat said the two countries have been successful in finding ways to strengthen relations between the two countries in various sectors.
He underlined that the process of preparation of the 7th session of the Bilateral Commission has been in progress since July 2008, with the technical meeting held in Praia city, Cape Verde.
Nelson Cosme also mentioned the fact that the relations were established since the threshold of the national independence, although their juridical formalisation occurred on August 30, 1976, with the signing of the general accord of cooperation in Praia.
In his turn, the director general of the Department of International Cooperation of the Cape Verdean Foreign Ministry, António Alves Pedro Lopes, stressed the importance of the historical and friendship relations that unite the two countries which, he added, are on the rise.
To him, an evidence of this is the dozens of juridical instruments signed between the two States, which show both the technical and political will for their realisation.
The head of the Cape Verde delegation of experts spoke of the need for further strengthening of the importance the decentralised relations are gaining, with stress to the business domain.
During the meeting, the experts from both sides will prepare documents for the 7th session of the Angola/Cape Verde Bilateral Commission that will assess the implementation of the commitments taken during the 6th session.
The meeting will also analyse juridical instruments that will be finalised and signed during the 7th session and review the perspectives of cooperation and set the venue and date for the next meeting.
