Nigeria: Police Alert Citizens On Fake Currencies

THE Bauchi State Police Command has alerted the public on the circulation of fake currencies note in the state.

Speaking to journalists in his office, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mohammed Barau said the Bauchi State Police Command has received several complaints on the circulation of fake notes which are N500.00 and N1000.00.

He disclosed that some people were arrested last week in Bauchi metropolis with currencies suspected to be fake notes adding that the investigation conducted by the police confirmed that the currencies were fake.

Barau who refused to disclose the names of the suspected men arrested to news, assured that Police would do everything to trace the source of the fake notes as well as arrest those associated the crime.

The Police image maker described the offence as a criminal offence which according to him boarders on economic sabotage to Nigeria.

He appealed to members of the public to watch out for the people with questionable behaviour especially while transacting business at night and in dark areas.

He enjoined members of the public to report to the police or other security agents any suspicious persons especially now that the Eid-el-Kabir celebration is approachimg.
