South African food editors Anke Roux of Fresh Living Magazine and Petri Uys of Your Family magazine represented South Africa at this prestigious event, which culminated on Sunday, 23 November 2008, at Dubai's Al Murooj Rotana Hotel.

Uys was awarded $1000 for being nominated as the second runner-up in the individual section of the competition. She is very pleased with her win and describes the event as "a fantastic experience!"

"It was most insightful to work with people of different cultures and to experience foreign cuisine first hand," said Uys. "Thank you to LG and especially LG South Africa for their incredible hospitality. What an unbelievable experience!"

The finals were held in Dubai at the Al Murooj Rotana Hotel where 15 finalists were given 60 minutes to create a starter, main meal and dessert. All three courses were prepared in an LG SolarDOM lightweight oven. A high-profile panel of judges selected winners on the basis of cooking style and presentation. The panel of judges included Chef Patrick Lannes, Chef Directeur Maitre Cuisiner De France and H.S. Paik, President of LG Electronics Gulf, among others.
