Nigeria: Oshiomhole Sports Committee Springs to Action

Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has set up a think-tank for sports that he hoped can help bring back the glory days of the state in sports nationally and internationally.

The committee, according to a release made available to media men from the Government House in Benin City is headed by renowned sports marketers and Chairman of Pamodzi International among other companies, Chief Mike Itemuagbor.

The committee, which was inaugurated last weekend in Benin City, has as member former Super Eagles, Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets and a retired Assistant Director in the NSC, Fanny Amun, as member, there are also Prof. Ojeme, Pastor Osagiede, Super Eagles boss Shuaibu Amodu, while Ade Ojeikere and Aisha Falode, hold the media face in the committee.

Already the committee has started work with wide consultations on the way forward for sports in Edo . Robust activities of the committee will start on Wednesday in the Edo state capital with consultations and seminars.

Expected to help the committee reshape sports in Edo are national sports icons like immediate past DG, National Sports Commission, Dr Amos Adamu, two_time Delta State Sports Commissioner and Chairman SportsDay Newspapers, Chief Solomon Ogba, former Rivers State sports helmsman, Igo Aguma and Nigeria Football Federation Scribe, Hon. Bolaji Ojo_Oba.

Chairmen of local governments, association chairmen in the state and all stakeholders including head of public and [private schools are also expected to attend the committee's programmes.
