Police at Dormaa Ahenkro have mounted a search for Kwabena Amponsah, alias Gambo, a 37-year-old farmer of Sumamantukwa near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa Municipality, for allegedly murdering his wife.
Amponsah was believed to have severed the left arm of Madam Akosua Kyeremaa, 35, and inflicted several deep cutlass wounds on the body, killing her instantly, following a misunderstanding between the couple when the woman accused the husband of having extra marital relationship.
Mr. Sylvester Gyamfi, Chairman of the Unit Committee at Sumamantukwa, told the GNA at Dormaa Ahenkro that on November 28 this year, Amponsah visited his girlfriend at Kwabenakrakrom, a farming community in the municipality.
Mr. Gyamfi said Madam Kyeremaa quarreled with the husband when he returned to Sumamantukwa the following morning and residents intervened to cool down tempers.
The Unit Committee Chairman said moments later, people heard shouts for help from the direction of the couple's home and a crowd rushed there only to find the deceased lying in a pool of blood with the arm severed.
Mr. Gyamfi said Amponsah bolted after committing the crime and all attempts to arrest him proved futile.
The Unit Committee Chairman said he led a team to convey Madam Kyeremaa to the Presbyterian Hospital at Dormaa Ahenkro but she was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Her body had been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
