Carter Center election observation leaders and short-term observers have arrived in Ghana to observe election preparations and voting on Dec. 7.

They join the Center's long-term observers, who have been deployed throughout Ghana since late-September. Observers will be briefed for two days then deployed to all 10 regions in the country.

The 50-member delegation is being co-led by former Botswana President Quett Masire and former Prime Minister of Tanzania Justice Joseph Warioba of the East African Court of Justice.

The delegation will hold a press conference on Dec. 9 to release their preliminary findings.

The Carter Center conducts election observation activities in a nonpartisan, professional manner in accordance with applicable law and international standards for election observation as set forth in the Declaration of Principles for International Election Observation.
