Luanda — Petro de Luanda on Tuesday evening defeated 1º de Agosto (host) by 94-82, in the first classic of the 31st edition of the national basketball championship, ANGOP has learnt.
The game served to adjust the first round of the competition, once 1º de Agosto, national champions, were engaged in the preliminary round of the African champions clubs cup.
The three first quarters of the game were balanced, but Petro de Luanda were already in advantage throughout most of the last quarter, in a night that Olimpio Cipriano had an outstanding performance, scoring 33 points for 1º de Agosto.
Petro team had a good team work, but a more positive record belonged to veteran Victor de Carvalho, with 17 points.
At half time, Petro de Luanda were winning by 50-47.
