Ambassador Biti Allou Wanyou paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Ephraim Inoni. Cameroon's Prime Minister, Ephraim Inoni yesterday, 2 December received in audience the new Ambassador of Cote d'Ivoire to Cameroon Biti Allou Wanyou.
The diplomat described bilateral relations between Cameroon and Cote d'Ivoire to be excellent and said he would work to expand them under the directives of President Laurent Gbagbo.
Talking to reporters after the audience, the Ivorian diplomat said he used the audience to get advice from Prime Minister Inoni that will enable him effectively carry out his mission in Cameroon.
He said the main novelty in the bilateral relations between the two countries could be the visit of President Laurent Gbagbo of Cote d'Ivoire to Cameroon that will serve as an occasion for the two Heads of State to redefine bilateral relation between their countries.
The diplomat disclosed that during the United Nations General Assembly meeting in 2007, President Paul Biya of Cameroon received in audience his Ivorian counterpart, Laurent Gbagbo. During their discussions, Paul Biya invited Laurent Gbagbo to Cameroon.
The visit he said, has not yet taken place due to political hitches in Cote d'Ivoire that led to the postponement of originally programmed elections.
Biti Allou Wanyou said the delay in the holding of the elections was due to technical problems. However, the Independent Electoral Commission was at work and when the work will be completed, the new date for the elections will be announced.
