H.E. Hosung Lee says he would communicate more to publicize his country. Barely two months after taking up residence in Cameroon following the reopening of their Embassy in Yaounde, the new South Korean Ambassador, Hosung Lee, was at the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation, SOPECAM, yesterday for a courtesy visit.
H.E. Hosung Lee, who is on his second diplomatic assignment in Cameroon after serving as 2nd Secretary at the Korean Embassy in 1986, was accompanied by the current 2nd Secretary, Capt.
Lee, Soo-won. The visit was convivial. For close to an hour, the SOPECAM General Manager, Marie Claire Nnana, her Deputy, Shey Peter Mabu and the management staff of Cameroon Tribune, delved on a variety of subjects of common interest with their guests. The Koreans, who lack natural resources, attribute the rapid growth of their nation to proper education and patriotism. Cameroon, H.E. Hosung Lee said, could develop faster as it has both human and natural resources.
The south Asian country imports mainly crude oil, timber and bauxite from Cameroon, while its business persons are interested in the energy, infrastructure and development sectors. While lauding the press freedom which exists in Cameroon, as can be seen in the variety on the news stands, the diplomat promised to communicate more to improve on the visibility of his country. One of his strategies would be to invite Cameroonian journalists to Korea for them to have first hand information about the country.
