The past weekend was a busy one with the Summer Festival and the annual Splash Show simultaneously taking place.
However, revellers who missed out shouldn't worry because they will have an opportunity to attend the Rockcember festival scheduled to take place at the Old Quad track on the Oodi turn-off this Saturday.
The festival, which has become an annual event (previously going by a different name) is dedicated to the commemoration of World AIDS Day. This year, however, the festival could not be held on December 1 because it fell on a Monday.
The organisers of the show, two brothers and members of one of the popular rock groups, Nosey Road Band, Ivo and Ray Sbrana, told Showbiz that although they decided to change its name, the festival is still dedicated to dissemination of information to sensitise people, especially the youth, on HIV/AIDS. The duo explained that the main aim of the concert is to discourage young people from engaging in dangerous behaviour, which might put them at risk of contracting the virus.
"It is a continuing effort to use music to change society for the better," the brothers explained.
They stated that all proceeds from the ticket sales would go to charity, emphasising that when paying the entrance fee, people should know that they are giving the money to charity. People attending the festival are also encouraged to bring with them all the toys their children are not using so they could be donated to various charities as Christmas gifts for the needy children.
The organisers promise revellers a good show, with a line-up guaranteed to keep them constantly on their feet. Most of the musicians who will be performing at the festival have been with the show since inception. To provide extra colour, the organisers have this year partnered with RB2 and the show will be broadcast live, starting from 16:00 until midnight. Groups on the line-up include Nosey Road, Skinflint, Rhutz from South Africa, Jeff Matheatau, Stane, Ras Jesus, Jah Revelation, Sms Blues Band, Wrust, and many more.
The show is sponsored by Spar (as the main sponsor), African Banking, Automation Intelligence, GTV, HI-FI Corporation, Letshego, Mmegi, Phakalane Properties, and Sound of Hope. Tickets are available in Nosey Road video shops at Phakalane and Game City.
