Francistown — Botswana Congress Party (BCP) will run a workshop to prepare its candidates for elections over the weekend, the party has announced.
The workshop is being sponsored by the British Labour Party's Westminster Foundation.
Workshop facilitators are BCP vice president, who is also the party's parliamentary candidate for Tswapong South Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang and Dr Ben Bolaane, who is a member of the party's policy directorate.
Gobotswang says the workshop will induct the candidates in developing local manifestos, focusing on local issues and in skills of running an effective campaign.
"The workshop will empower the candidates with skills to defend their seats and challenge their opponents," he says. "We will also teach them how to organise effective rallies and media relations." Participation has been extended to BCP's electoral partners, the Botswana Alliance Movement (BAM).
