Ghana: Nduom Gov't Will Consign Mills to Council of State

3 December 2008

Dr. and Mrs. Nduom yesterday told the people of the coastal town of Effutu that Ghanaians should ignore what people were saying about him (Paa Kwesi Nduom), and consider him and Mills, who is his senior brother, and give him their vote.

He said that it was a fact that Professor Atta Mills, and him, were both Fantes, who were vying for the office of President, therefore it was useful to consider their qualities and vote for the person who had the capacity to do the work of President.

'It is true that adze papa wo fie oye, but I say to you, adze papa wo fie nna oye', to wit it is even better to bring a very good home to Fanteland!

Dr. Nduom was emphatic that he holds his senior brother in such high esteem that his CPP Government, led by him, will appoint him as Chairman of the Council of State to advise him in Governance, and not dispose of his services, to loud applause.

Nduom noted that he had been a Minister before, and knew the ins and outs of Government, and continued that a CPP government was noted for creating jobs, and would do the same when he is given the chance to improve on the fortunes of the people of Effutu, and every Ghanaian.

Without saying it, he suggested that people should ignore what people were saying about his standing in the polls, and just concentrate on his record and that of his party's past record, and the first leader of the CPP, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and vote for him.

The presidential candidate promised that he would lead the party's national campaign to finish hard, and work smart during the last week of campaigning, while advisers hinted The Chronicle that Dr. Nduom toured the North, Brong Ahafo, Volta, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions, immediately following the 2nd Presidential Debate in Tamale.

His wife led a team that focused on the Ashanti, Volta, Central, Brong Ahafo and Western regions.

At the same time, Dr. Abu Sakara led the team that went to the Upper East, Upper West, Brong Ahafo and Northern regions.

Dr. Nduom is currently spending the last week, working in the Central and Western Regions, while Dr. Abu Sakara, his running mate, works in the Brong Ahafo and the three northern regions.

Mrs. Yvonne Nduom accompanied him on the last stretch.

He also focused on a massive 'get out and vote' effort, which would deploy about 300,000 members to canvass for votes in all the over 21,000 polling stations in the country.

"The party is confident that its massive membership drive early this year, has provided a solid foundation that it will use to make this vote winning effort successful. The party will be asking people not to waste their votes on the NDC or the NPP, but rather invest their votes in the evergreen human-centered policies of the CPP," an aide to Nduom noted.

The party is confident of victory, and the flagbearer made it known that he was very grateful to the thousands of CPP supporters who have sacrificed time, sweat, and money, to provide a great enthusiastic push to the party's campaign this year.
