Kampala — URA FC coach Moses Basena has asked FUFA to exempt his players from national team duty until after the Tusker Challenge Cup in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

The two-week event kicks off on December 15 and concludes four days before the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup rolls off in Kampala, December 31.

Half the URA starting team are in the Cranes squad FUFA has summoned for training and Basena is worried he may be forced to play without them.

Goalkeeper Abbey Dhaira, defenders Musa Docca and Joseph Owino; midfielders Tonny Mawejje, Patrick Ochan and Eric Obua are all with the national team.

"It is a big and tough tournament because there is big money to win alongside pride for the whole country. It will be better if FUFA can leave the players for us to travel with," Basena said.

The event was in balance due to its close schedule to the CECAFA tournament.
