Windhoek — Namibia has announced its annual member's exhibition and a new website to be launched on Monday evening at Studio 77.
The exhibition will feature work for sale by well-known Namibian artists as well as students and part-time artists. Paintings, prints, sculptures and ceramics will be on display and a live link to the organisation's website will be available at Studio 77 on Monday evening.
The website address will be www.van.in.na and will feature members' details and examples of their works and contact numbers.
This will be updated regularly and hope-fully be used as a resource by everybody who is interested in visual arts in Namibia. This website is made possible with generous funding from The Bank Windhoek Arts Festival.
As a membership-based organisation of Visual Artists in Namibia, VA-N has been active in the community since 2006. Activities such as exhibitions, mural paintings, art classes in schools, regional workshops and the production of a glossy membership catalogue in 2007. A new catalogue for 2009 is planned to accommodate new members, and these will be added to the website too.
All visual artists in Namibia, who are not yet members, are encouraged to bring their work to Studio 77 this weekend to take part in the exhibition and join the organisation. Membership fee is N$60 for ordinary members, N$40 for pensioners and students.
