Malanje — The signal of Angola's State-run television station (TPA) will reach all 14 districts of northern Malanje province in 2009.
This was announced Tuesday here by Malanje governor, Boaventura Cardoso, at the end of a meeting with the social communication
minister, Manuel Rabelais.
The minister visited the province to, among other issues, review matters concerning the rehabilitation of media infrastructures in the region.
Boaventura Cardoso said that at the meeting he was informed about the expansion of TPA signal to the remainder five districts of the province, thus covering the whole 14 localities of the province.
"According to matters discussed, I can say that as from next year, the province of Malanje will have the signal of TPA channel extended to all districts, as only five are left," said the governor.
On the other hand, Boventura Cardoso announced that the government will rehabilitate its resources, the installations of the radio, TPA and Angop, with a view to the commitments taken before the Social Communication Ministry, to help improve the working conditions of
the personnel.
He said the provincial governor asked the ministry to create conditions for the establishment in the province of a TPA production centre, aimed at improving the quality of the service.
In his turn, the spokesperson for the Social Communication ministry, Hélder Barber, said in addition to the rehabilitation of the said media organs buildings, the meeting reviewed matters related to the continued training of journalists and improvement of their service.
Currently, TPA's channel 1 signal reaches nine districts of the province, as part of a company's Project to install semi-professional transmitters for the full expansion of the service to all districts.
The minister is back in Luanda after travelling to northeastern Lunda Sul and Malanje provinces, where he learned about the functioning of the media organs in those regions.
