F.V.

4 December 2008

This was during a pre-match meeting held by officials of the Cameroon delegation and players yesterday. The Secretary General in the Ministry of Defense, Amadou Vedjedou, who is heading the Cameroonian delegation to the tournament, has called on the military lions to defend the image of the country by winning the cup for the second consecutive time.

The Secretary General was speaking during a pre-match meeting held with the players at their Africana hotel base in Kampala . The minister however cautioned the players not to put up any behaviour that will tarnish the image of the country saying the quest for victory should not sacrifice fair play.

Colonel Kalkaba Malboum, who said he was first and foremost a Cameroonian before being the president of the organization of military sports in Africa, OSMA, equally urged the players to conserve the title saying Cameroon is at the fore front of OSMA and should be seen as excelling both on and off the pitch.

The coach Jean Paul Akono expressed gratitude for the attention that has been given to the team saying the only way they can reward the government, is by winning the trophy.

An idea which was concurred by the team captain, Boumsong saying they were highly motivated to win the Cup as their brothers had done before them.
