Kumasi — THE PRESIDENT, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, last Sunday commissioned a US$1.4 million Youth Centre located at Ahinsan, a suburb of Kumasi, to provide counseling services, leadership and skills training to the youth.
It would as well serve as a rallying point for the youth of Ashanti, and the over 900 registered youth groups and associations.
The project, christened Osei Kwaku Youth Centre, after the former Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, was built by Jiangsu Jiangud Construction Company Limited, with support from the Republic of China.
The Youth Centre, initiated by the former Sports Minister, would also host major regional youth related rallies, and the dissemination of youth development policies and programmes.
Commissioning the Centre, President Kufuor noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government prides itself in the practice of good governance and respect for human rights.
He cautioned Ghanaians to ensure violent-free elections, urging the youth to be wary of deceit by some politicians who delight in using them to cause violence before, during, and after the elections.
