Tati West MP, Charles Tibone is pushing for speedy development of infrastructure to put Ntimbale Dam in a favourable position to attract tourism.
The Tourism Minister, Kitso Mokaila, responding to more than two enquiries by Tibone, told Parliament that his ministry has already concluded arrangements with the Ministry of Lands and Housing to reserve some dams for tourism.
"The next step will be to liase with relevant authorities such as the Town and Country Planning Board on the modalities of utilisation of this resource," Mokaila said.
Mokaila said his ministry is aware of the Ntimbale dam study, which identified potential tourism activities in the vicinity of the dam. He said after the dam was commissioned in October this year, consultations will be held with key stakeholders on how to develop the identified potential tourism sites as a way forward.
"The identified potential tourism areas could create employment opportunities for the localities through Community Based Natural Resources Management," the minister said.
