Nigeria: Emordi Invites Eleven to Beef Up Eagles

4 December 2008

Okey Emordi has called up eleven more players to beef up his squad ahead of next week's African Nations Championship final qualifier against Ghana's Black Stars.

Having bungled a two-goal advantage to lose the first leg match 2-3 at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Sunday, Emordi knows that drastic actions are important to see his team progress to the finals in Ivory Coast early next year.

The former Enyimba FC chief tactician has called up two goalkeepers, two defenders, three midfielders and four attackers to join the team that went to Ghana at the Ibro Hotel, Abuja, where preparations for the return leg match has already begun.

Nigeria must overturn the deficit to reach the finals of the inaugural tournament for players who ply their trade in the domestic league of their countries, which has just been instituted by the Confederation of African Football. The finals take place 22 February - 8 March, 2009.
