The remains of the late River Gee senator, Isaac Johnson, have been laid to rest, following funeral rites at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion in Monrovia.
In a tribute, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, described the late River Gee senator as a great statesman who stood for what was right.
An Executive Mansion release says, the President extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, noting that the late senator would be long remembered for his steadfastness in service to his people. The President prayed that the soul of the fallen senator would rest in perfect peace.
The Liberian Government, in a national gazette in honor of the senator, paid homage to Senator Johnson, for his contribution in strengthening the democratic process in Liberia and for working tirelessly for the upliftment of his people.
The funeral was also attended by Vice President Joseph Boakai, members of the national legislature, the Chief Justice and members of the judiciary as well as members of the diplomatic corp.
Born on April 16, 1957, the late River Gee senator died on November 12, following an operation at a local hospital in Monrovia.
