5 December 2008

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has alleged plans by some group of persons to cause breach of security in the next few days by attacking supporters of the party in Umuahia, Abia State and later blame it on the PDP in the state.

The party has therefore petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, claiming that members of the state branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Motorcycle Union, and Township Bus Union among others were being recruited to perpetuate the act.

The State Chairman of PDP, Sir Ndidi Okereke alleged in a news conference in Abuja yesterday that the attack was being coordinated by an unnamed top official in the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA)-led government in the state saying that the official in fact, met with representatives of the various groups last

Wednesday to perfect the plan which the PDP said it has now divulged to the Police.
