A middle age man, committed suicide last Tuesday in Benin City, after he killed a prostitute he had patronised.
The incident occurred barely one week after a commercial sex worker, identified as Jenifer was also murdered in a brothel located along Murtala Muhammed way, Benin City by a customer who escaped after committing the dastard act.
Vanguard learnt that the Tuesday tragedy which occurred at about 9pm , occurred 30 minutes after the young man who is said to be in his mid 30s entered the girl's corner. The deceased fellow prostitutes heard a loud scream in the room and quickly forced the door open, only to discover that their friend had been strangled by her customer.
It was said that the sex workers immediately locked the suspect inside while some of them rushed to the police. But while that was going on, the young man, identified as Uche, allegedly pulled down the ceiling fan in the room and hung himself with the electric cable in the fan.
An eye witness told narrated to Vanguard that " when the police now came and saw the body of the boy dangling from the ceiling, they started arresting the commercial sex workers including the girls that went to report the matter at the police. They now took the body away and locked up the place".
When Vanguard visited there yesterday, the place was under lock and key. It was learnt that the two bodies have been deposited at the Central Hospital mortuary.
Contacted the state police Spokesman, ASP Peter Ogboi confirmed the incident and said the matter was being investigated.
