5 December 2008

The Namibia National Olympic Committee's (NNOC) recently re-elected President, Agnes Tjongarero, won the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (SCSA) Zone Six 2008 Sport Award this week.

Tjongarero, who is currently in Potchefstroom, South Africa, received the prestigious award at the Madiba Hall after the third edition of the Zone Six Council of Sport Ministers' meeting held on Wednesday.

Tjongarero was unanimously endorsed by all the Zone Six 10 members, namely Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Malawi and Angola.

Tjongarero said her award is an honour to her and the women of Namibia.

Tjongarero was re-elected at last Friday's NNOC elective congress.

She is the former President of the All Namibia Netball Association (ANNA).
