Angola: Sonangol And KBR Sign Contract for Assistance to Build Lobito Refinery

Luanda — A contract linked to the construction of the Lobito Refinery was this Friday here signed between the National Fuel Society of Angola (Sonangol) and KBR, USA firm specialised in building oil platforms.

The two-year contract includes the building of a harbour and a base of assistance to the construction of the refinery, which includes a yard and an access route.

Apart from being in charge of designing the future refinery, KBR shall also supervise the construction works.

The contract was signed by the board member of Sonangol, Anabela Fonseca and by the representative of the U.S. firm, Djhon Kilson.

At the contract's signing ceremony, Anabela Fonseca thanked KBR for the patience and trust to the Angolan company, mainly for having assisted Sonangol in the preparation of the project during some years.

"The project became a reality with the signing of this contract", he referred.
