Voter Turn Out May Be Higher Than Expected
Reports of long queues in every part of the country give a strong indication that voter turn out may be higher than expected. Voters have ben queuing since 2 am to vote.
Dr. Afari -Gyan Assures Voters
Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan the Chairman of the Electoral Commission has asked the public to be calm and vote peacefully. He stated that the few problems reported earlier during the day, such as late arrival of voting materials, are local and isolated.
He has assured voters that the electoral Commission's Rapid Deployment Team has been moving round polling stations solving problems and addressing voter concerns.
Long Queues Herald Elections
Very long queues herald Ghana's elections 2008 with eligible voter's arriving very early at the various polling stations to vote as early as 2am.
The first person to vote at Korley Klottey polling station, Mitchell Crisody reported at the polling station at 2.30 am. He said he wanted to vote early so that he can relax and wait for the results. He did not disclose the presidential candidate he voted for.
Multiple Polling Stations At One Place Causing Problems
Multiple polling stations at one place causing confusion. Voters who have queued for many hours at one polling station are being asked to vote at another polling station where they will have to queue afresh to vote. Voters are resisting the electoral officers and there is confusion especially at Ablekuma North.
Ablekuma North Constituency: No Voting And Serious Fighting
The delay in sending voting materials to polling stations is causing a lot of consusion at Ablekuma North Constituency. At th time of reporting voting has not started and many of the voters in the queue are fighting.
Voting Peaceful In Juapong And Tamale
Reports reaching us indicate that voting is peaceful in JUAPONG and TAMALE.
Dr.Paa Kwesi Nduom Just Voted
The presidential candidate of the Convention Peoples Party just voted in Cape Coast. He said he was very optimistic about his chances.
