AfDB and the Netherlands - Agreement to Support MFW4A

The AfDB and the Government of The Netherlands signed on December 5, 2008, in Tunis an agreement related to the Dutch contribution to the Partnership Secretariat of Making Finance Work for Africa (MFW4A).

With their signatures, Rita Rahman, The Netherlands Ambassador to Tunisia, and Vice President Sector Operations Zeinab El Bakri, confirmed the Dutch contribution of Euro 100.000 to contribute to the budgetary needs of the annual work plans of the MFW4A Partnership Secretariat. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Executive Director for Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom, Birgit Gerhardus.

The Partnership for Making Finance Work for Africa is a major initiative to support the efforts of African countries to accelerate economic growth and reduce poverty. The Partnership is based on the recognition that financial sector development can be a strategic driver of private investment, employment generation and economic growth. The African Development Bank hosts the organization's secretariat.
