Benguela — The book entitled "A degravata" by the Angolan writer Antonio Carmo Neto, was released this Saturday, in Benguela city, after a session of autographs and public exposition in the provincial branch of Angola radio station.
Speaking to press, the writer declared that the book is a prose that describes a set of stories related to day by day of the cities, not only of Benguela and Lobito, where he lived, as well as other provinces and the universal identity that describes the writer.
Delighted for displaying a material that will stimulate and enrich Angolan culture and those interested in literature, he affirmed that such work is derived of a literary maturity, for the books that will be available soon to public, whose themes were announced.
For him, the interest on literature comes mainly from the family hub and schools, having into account that currently few schools have libraries and worry about providing an efficient education and stimulate reading-interest.
Carmo Neto, who also is the director of the communication and image department of the National Police, highlighted that there is not literary stimulus, taking into account that the books sold are not affordable for the majority of the population.
The book, which counts on 100 copies, contains hundred pages and is being sold for 500 Kwanzas.
This is the fourth book by António Carmo Neto, after the release of "A forja" in 1985, "Meu réu de colarinho branco" (1988) and "Joana Maluca" (2004).
