Luanda — The newly appointed members of the Angolan oil company (Sonangol)'s managing board were sworn in Monday in Luanda, at a ceremony chaired by the Oil minister, Botelho de Vasconcelos.
Sonangol's new board includes the chairman, Manuel Vicente, and administrators Mateus Morais de Brito, Fernando Joaquim Roberto, Anabela Soares da Fonseca, Francisco de Lemos, José Gime and André Melo.
Sonangol is the company that manages the hydrocarbon-related resources in Angola.
Prospecting and research in hydrocarbons in Angola started in 1910, when an area of 114,000 square kilometres of the Congo offshore and Kwanza Basin were awarded to the company Canha & Formigal. The first oil well was drilled in 1915.
