Ghana U-20 captain, Dominic Adiyiah, admits that Wednesday's Ibori Cup U-20 final against Senegal would be tough.
Despite defeating the Senegalese during their first meeting 2-0 in the preliminary stage, Adiyiah said victory would not matter in the final.
He added that after Senegal's loss to his side in the opening game of Group B, the Young Teranga Lions has improved after each side.
The attacker, whose pace alongside his strike partner, Latiff Salifu, has caught the attention of scouts from Europe, believes that the only way his country can emerge winner of the maiden edition of the regional Under-20 championship was to play without holding back.
"I want to say that Senegal is a good side and beating it in the first game do not guarantee that we will win the final," Adiyiah admitted. "I think we must be 100 per cent on our toes if we hope to beat the team."
In a similar vein, head coach of the Ghanaian side, Sellas Tetteh, buttressed the stance of his captain by stating that the Senegalese side remains the most reformed in the tournament, considering the fact that it lost its first game in the championship.
Tetteh, who had played in the Nigerian league with Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland Football Club), defunct ACB Football Club and Julius Berger, agreed with Adiyiah that playing in the final against Senegal would be difficult, adding that his side would have to give its best.
"I want to give lots of credit to the Senegalese team because it has been the most progressive team after we defeated it in the first game. It has really improved with every match. The final will be tough and we have to raise our game if we hope to overcome them," he said.
The Ghanaian coach admitted that the Senegalese side is more fired up than his side to win the WAFU Cup title, considering its 4-1 humiliation of Cote d'Ivoire in the semi-final on Monday.
Tetteh also believes that Group B is the best and toughest group due to the fact that Ghana and Senegal, who would play in
Wednesday's final, are from that group.
"At the moment, they are quite motivated than us because they scored more goals in the semi-final match, which I think is not common. For me, I think it is going to be a very difficult match and I want to say that for the two teams to play in the final, it shows that the group is the toughest of all the groups in this championship," Tetteh said.
