Asmara — President Isaias Afwerki returned home today concluding an official visit to Chad at the invitation of President Idris Debi.
The President told local reporters on arrival at the Asmara International Airport that he held discussion with the Chadian leader on bilateral relations in general and ways of fostering cooperation and exchanging experience as regards the significance of achieving food security, as well as soil and water conservation in particular.
On cooperation in the domain of trade, President Isaias pointed out that there exists possibilities and that the two leaders exchanged views on undertaking study. He further indicated that they have reached understanding to map out joint programs for exchanging experience in the health and education sectors.
Stating that the contribution of President Idris Debi in promoting stability in the Sudan is significant, even though the sole responsibility rests on the Sudanese themselves, President Isaias explained that both leaders held discussion on this matter too.
It is to be recalled that during his stay in Chad, the President participated in the country's Independence Day celebrations.
