Luanda — The Angolan Paralympics athlete Esperança Jicasso has been confirmed winner of the 100-metre competition of athletics under the organisation of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Games.
This was in response to the protest presented by Zambia, defeated Monday at the final. The Angolan athlete won the golden medal.
Although the Zambians alleged irregularity, the judge body and the members of VI Zone belonging to the athletics, have rejected the protest.
Visual impaired T12, the athlete managed to lift her second medal, after winning bronze in 200 metres, during a competition won by Malongwe Munashe, of Zimbabwe.
With this victory brings the total number of medals won by the country to five (four bronze and one gold).
On Thursday afternoon, the Angolan Yuri Calei will run in the 400-metre final.
