Tunis — A circus show entitled "Sarkha.tn" by the Tunis School of Circus Arts, is currently in Damascus where it is taking part in the Damascus Theatre Festival which runs from December 12 to 20, 2008.
The show which was set up to celebrate the school's second promotion of artists, in June 2008, is much awaited by an eager Syrian public, which has always appreciated the innovative nature of Tunisian scenic art.
The performances of Tunisian plays during the festival's previous editions such as "The instruction" in 1978, "Ghasselet Ennouader" in 1980, "Ismail Pacha" in 1986 and "Long live Shakespeare" in 1988, have always met with great success in Syria, thanks to a combination of fantasy and irreverence, which have jolted it out from the more conventional theatre scene.
Today, as the Tunisian theatre readies itself to celebrate 100 years of existence -having arrived from the orient in 1908- the country's circus artists are showing the way to the Arab artistic scene, by performing a millenary art which completes and enriches theatrical art.
