Luanda — The former chairperson of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Armando Machado, Saturday here appealed to the newly-sworn in management of the institution to the assumption of a serious engagement for the immediate exit of the crisis facing national soccer team.
Speaking to Angop, following the elimination of the Angolan football squad from the final round of the first edition of CHAN (African nations championship for locally based players) Armando Machado highlighted the necessity for all to work for the return of the glories.
The national team were defeated on Saturday by Zambia, by 2-1 in a second leg match after also losing in Luanda in the first leg by 0-1.
Also the national squad were eliminated in the qualifying round for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The final phase of CHAN will be played in next February, in Cote d'Ivoire.
