Luanda — The state-owned diamond company Endiama will launch on December 17, in Luanda, the official promotion and divulgation campaign of the World Diamond Summit, set for 2009 in Angola, ANGOP has learnt.
The meeting will also have an interaction session intended to inform participants about the steps that will be taken until the holding of the summit, in November 2009.
The launching ceremony is to be attended by top entities of the Angolan government, among them the minister of the Economy and the co-ordinator of the multi-sectorial preparatory commission for the holding of the summit.
The happens at a time that the Angolan government reiterated on Thursday, in New York, its commitment to working with all member states of the Kimberley Process and other important actors to fight against the use of diamonds to feed wars.
This position was reasserted by the permanent representative of Angola to the United Nations, ambassador Ismael Martins, during a speech he delivered at the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly, in the framework of the theme about the role of diamonds in regional conflicts.
On the occasion, the Angolan representative said his government is still working in the reinforcement of activities related to the Association of African Diamond Producing Countries, as well as the organisation of the World Diamond Summit.
