Tunisia: Nabeul to Host 2009 MILSET International Science Fair

Tunis — The town of Nabeul in Tunisia's Cap Bon region, will host the 2009 edition of the International Science Fair organized by the International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology (MILSET).

The Fair which is set under the patronage of the President of the Republic, will take place from July 23 to 28, and will witness the participation of some 1300 young scientists from 90 countries.

Preparations for this major event, were discussed during a meeting chaired by the Minister of youth, sports and physical education, Mr Samir Laabidi, in the presence of the chairman of the Tunisian "Young Science Association", Mr Hassan Akrout, and MILSET's Executive Manager, Mr Jean Pierre Triller.

Following the meeting, Mr Laabidi said that this event will reinforce digital and scientific culture among the young and enable them to communicate with other youths in the world, taking advantage of the scientific experience of developed countries.

MILSET was set up in 1987, during the first International Expo-Sciences (ESI) held in Quebec.

Its mission is to foster the development of scientific and technical activities for young people and children and to motivate young people to get interested into science. MILSET is a consultative member of the ECOSOC Commission of the United Nations, as well as a member of UNESCO,UNICEF,ISESCO, ALECSO and the European Commission.
