Nigeria: Jigawa Distributes 247,000 Mosquito Nets

Jigawa State government has distributed about 247,000 treated mosquito nets to the 27 local government areas of the state.

The free distribution is part of efforts by the state government to curb the spread of malaria. Disclosing this in a telephone call, the state's commissioner for Health, Dr Tafida Abubakar said government had so far spent about N36 million on treatment of malaria. The commissioner said government was poised to ensure that malaria was eradicated completely. He charged all to ensure sanitary condition of their environment, as according to him unhealthy environment breeds mosquitoes that cause malaria
