Nathi Lions' coach Sheppard Murape says their Nedbank Cup win over Witbank Spurs in Umlazi on Wednesday, will boost the morale of his players ahead of a crucial league match at the weekend.
Lions, rooted at the bottom of the Coastal Stream log, host log leaders Carara Kicks at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.
Against the Inland Stream side Spurs yesterday, Lions displayed an exciting brand of football and scored goals, something that has made Murape a happy man.
"I am relieved that at last we managed to score goals because in the past matches, we have been lacking in that department.
However, our defence needs to be jacked up so that we don't find ourselves in trouble.
Amabhubesi are currently last on the eight-team Coastal Stream log, with 10 points from 11 games.
Lions' goals were scored by burly striker Thando Gumede, Maxwell Kubheka and Dumisani Memela. Spurs' goals came from Ali Sadiki and Sipho Malapo.
