Kampala — NRM party mobilisers in Ssembabule district have criticised Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Ssekikubo for allegedly decampaigning fellow members.

Campaigning for Hanifa Kawooya, the district Woman MP NRM candidate, Muwanga Lutaaya, a mobiliser, said Ssekikubo was unfair to the party.

"Ssekikubo was supported by fellow NRM members in the 2006 elections. He has no shame to openly fight a member. He is a disgrace to the party," he said.

Lutaaya, accompanied by the NRM district secretary, Elly Muhumuza, said the party was planning to expel Ssekikubo. This was at Kawooya's rally at Lugusulu sub-county on Tuesday.

Kawooya knelt down before the people of Ssembabule appealing to them to vote for her. The Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, the NRM secretary general, Amama Mbabazi and foreign affairs minister Sam Kuteesa are also slated to campaign for Kawooya.

Other candidates in the race are Joy Kabatsi (independent) and Irene Lwanga (Democratic Party). The bye-elections are scheduled for January 7.
