Nigeria: Activist Applauds Gani for Rejecting Award

Kaduna — For publicly rejecting the national merit award, Civil Right Congress' president, Comrade Shehu Sani has commended Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN). He praised Gani for exhibiting courage in rejecting the award, arguing that it would caution the Federal Government laxity in meeting up with the demands of Nigerians many of whom are poor and in dire need of elimination of poverty.

Addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday, the activist criticised the rationale of the government to award national honours to discredited personalities whose activities in past governments contributed immensely to the ailing situation of the nation's domestic economy.
