Uganda: MPs Demand Explanation Over Failure to Set Cotton Price

18 December 2008

Kampala — Mps have demanded Government to explain the circumstances under which the Cotton development organization has failed to set prices for the sale of Cotton.

This comes after the leader of opposition in parliament, Prof Ogenga Latigo told parliament that the people of Pader are threatening to burn their cotton fields.

Latigo says government should respond to this matter urgently to save the farmers from the dilemma.

Mps say the farmers are stranded with the cotton yet CDO had promised 800 shillings per kilogram of cotton.
