Gerset — The Central Council of the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) held its 6th regular meeting in Gerset, Gash-Barka region, from December 14 to 15 under the theme "Our Youths Guarantors of Our Future."

Following discussion on the Union's accomplishments in 2008, the Council mapped out action program for the next year. Taking note of the encouraging activities carried out in collaboration with partners in the domains of health, education and agriculture, it agreed to continue such activities in an enhanced manner.

Moreover, the Council called on Eritrean women youths to avail themselves of the available educational opportunities, and thereby play a leading role in ensuring social equality. To this end, it underscored that the Union would strengthen activities in this sphere.
