"The Appointment of Sanni Ndanusa is the best thing to have happened to Nigerian Sports in recent times", says the Sports Veterans Association of Nigeria.
The Chief Jonathan Ogufere laid body said in Lagos over the weekend that "it cannot but agree with popular opinion that Sanni Ndanusa's appointment is welcome and we laud President Yar'Adua for hearkening to the voice of the people"
In a release signed by the General Secretary of the body, Mr. Paul Bassey, the Veterans said there was no doubt that "Engineer Ndanusa is no stranger to the politics of sports in our country.
"As a long time President of a "lesser sport" he must have "suffered" one way or another in the hands of the ministry so it is high time he redressed the wrongs while not losing sight of the fact that football is the king of sports" the body said.
They urged all stakeholders and sports loving Nigerians to rally behind the new Sports Minister as he commences the daunting task of repositioning Nigerian sports.
"With all the experience at his disposal, Scoupled with his knowledge of the country's sports terrain, there is no doubt whatsoever in our minds that he will succeed", the Sports Veterans said.
